When you’re looking for tools to improve and enhance your life, it’s vitally important to pay attention to what you’re using. Let’s take a look at razor blades for example. They are used for everything from box cutters, to detail work, to shaving. What do you think would happen if you used a bent, dull, or broken razor for such tasks? Bloodshed and/or a botched result.
When we look at what tools to use we just look at the intended function. We can’t really see if it would work for us unless we test it out. This can be considered the equivalent of picking up the blade and inspecting it. If you get a “gut reaction” that this technique will serve you well, then go for it. If something feels off or not right, back away now lest you cut yourself.
Tools are just that: tools.
It’s important to remember in your search for new techniques and tools that you are the one in charge. Anything that suggests otherwise won’t serve you.
It’s fine to look for tools and techniques to make yourself more productive, more effective, healthier, happier, etc. A problem that many run into is that they expect that by gathering enough tools that they can put their entire life on automatic and check out.
You are the boss. There is no way to get out of it. You’re in charge. Depending on how you look at it, this is either the worst thing in the world to contemplate, or the best thing you’ve ever heard. By assembling your techniques and tools you can set up an impressive command center, but it still won’t work without the commander in the middle of it.
Note: When you start living your purpose, or act in unison with a higher power (Your Higher Self, your True Will, God, etc) you are not abdicating your status as commander. Rather you are truly stepping up and acting like the commander you really are deep down. Connecting with a higher power and living your purpose is a different matter simply because instead of pretending you aren’t the commander, you are now a commander on a mission, and will act accordingly.
Once you accept that, you can start using your tools much more effectively, now that you realize what you have at your fingertips.
