Over time, writing this blog, I’ve formed a few friends here and there. One of the best has been Armand. Not only do we agree on many fronts (though that is rather cool, I think), but Armand simply a kind person, and good to converse with. And so it was that I decided to ask him for an interview, and he accepted.
John: What led you to start your blog?
Titus-Armand: There are many things that led me to blogging. But I think the most
important one is the fact that it gives me the opportunity to communicate
with other like-minded individuals, and my current offline environment
doesn’t offer me that.
I started blogging on April 1’st this year as a result of seeing an
announcement on a forum: “Looking for bloggers to hire”. I didn’t have any
idea (not the smallest clue) about what a “blogger” was, and out of
curiosity, I started researching the term. In a couple of days, I had a
pretty strong grasp over the whole blogging concept and I started my first
blog. A Blogger blog on trance music (because at that time I was DJing).
On that blog I was writing daily reviews of the trance tracks that got my
attention (I have a pretty good taste in music) and I eventually started
introducing download links in the posts (and breaking copyright laws) in
order to attract more people.
After the first two months, in which I read the full Problogger blog,
learned a lot about blogging and grown the blog to more than 100 daily
search engine visitors, I realized that I enjoyed the blogging activity but
writing music reviews wasn’t really aligned with my goals. Also, I received
a couple of emails from some record companies and artists asking me to stop
the illegal sharing activities. And while slowing down and terminating that
project, the idea to start a fresh blog appeared in my mind.
The reason why I chose the self improvement niche for this blog is because
in the past 8 months I’ve grown immensely thanks to studying psychology and
philosophy, and I thought that it would be a wonderful thing to be able to
give something back to the world.
I always believed in the “giving is receiving” philosophy.
John: What do you hope to achieve?
Titus-Armand: Regarding the blogging activity, I want my blog to achieve A-list status, to
be an authority resource on the self improvement topic. That may sound very
bold for someone who is a beginner blogger (I only have 5 months of
experience), but I know that in the next 12 months I will achieve my goal.
In life, I have another bold dream, that is achievable through this blog. I
want to help as many people as I possibly can, but not less than 5 millions.
To this moment, I’ve helped a few hundreds (in both offline and online
environments), and by making my blog an authority resource I will have a
powerful communication channel that will take me closer to my goal.
John: What have you learned in your blogging experience?
Titus-Armand: Blogging has helped me to truly comprehend the power of communication and
human interactions in life. I always agreed to that, but through blogging I
completely assimilated it. That is the main lesson that I’ve learned.
Other things include business and marketing concepts and the importance of
ethics and common sense in life and work.
John: It is obvious that you’re well-read in philosophy. What led you to that?
Titus-Armand: I don’t know if I can be considered well-read in philosophy, but what’s
leading me to read about it is my nature. I love to think deep, it makes me
feel alive.
John: What is your current “quest”?
Titus-Armand: “I have only made this letter rather long because I have not had time to
make it shorter.” ~ Blaise Pascal. Lettres provinciales.
I have enough time to write a short answer: the assimilation of knowledge
and wisdom.
John: What do you wish you had learned earlier?
Titus-Armand: This is a bit funny, because people my age (currently 19, 20 very soon)
aren’t usually asked this question too often.
But there are five main things that I wish I had learned earlier in life:
1. Fear is the biggest enemy of success;
2. Every moment of life is wonderful;
3. “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so” -
William Shakespeare;
4. I am my biggest enemy and also my best friend;
5. Impossible is nothing but a limit created by human minds in order to
stop the masses from achieving great things.
John: If you had one thing that you could get across to people, one thing that you
could teach them, what would it be?
Titus-Armand: Wow, I thought this would be an easy question but now that I think of it,
there are so many things… allow me to think for a second.
The one point that I would like to get across to people is that life is
designed to be beautiful! If you don’t feel that way, it’s time to hit
pause, relax and take the necessary measures to start *living* your life,
not reacting to what it throws your way.
John: What do you see on the horizon?
Titus-Armand: The sun rising.
Titus-Armand blogs on the topics of philosophy, spirituality, and self-improvement and his site can be found here.
