So after you’ve determined that you want to try something new you want to make the most of it. Discovering and using new inner technologies can be great fun, but can also wear on you. Here are a few things to avoid so as to make the process easier.

  1.  Don’t let someone take it away from you. Remember that what works for you may not work for others and vice-versa. Just because it didn’t work for them does not mean that it won’t work for you.
  2. Don’t start using a whole bunch of new techs at once. If you want to make sense of whether or not it is working for you, don’t try a whole bunch of new techniques at once. Not only is there the potential for conflict, you can wind up scattering your attention and energy thus completely ruining any chances of benefiting from the techs. (Only you can determine how many you can handle at once. If you ask yourself, you’ll get a pretty good answer.)
  3. Don’t drop it simply because it’s not working right away. Give it a chance to work. I suggest 3-4 weeks, based on the common theory that it takes 21 days or repetitions to set up a habit.
  4. Don’t be expecting a toaster oven to serve all your cooking needs. Many inner techs are rather specific as far as what you get from them. Peg lists for memorization will not help you maintain emotional balance unless you’re using that peg to memorize a method for maintaining balance. Understand the scope of the tech and let it rest at that. On the other hand……
  5. Don’t hang on to a tech that doesn’t serve you. If you’re using a tech and it isn’t even doing what it’s supposed to be doing, drop it. Give it a fair chance, but if it’s not doing anything for you, drop it and find something that will. You deserve to have the best, cutting-edge technology working with you.

After that, the rest is experimentation. Play with it, and see what works for you. As you get more practiced in refining your inner world, you will be able to tell pretty quick which techs will work out and which ones won’t. The process becomes almost automatic.
