Continuing from last time, I wanted to address more common questions. When you have a change like this, there are a lot of ways to handle it. The technical parable I’m going to use in this case is upgrading to a new operating system. It can be a big event. Some software will not work, while others will work better. Usually it takes more system requirements than the earlier version, and after getting past the adjustment period usually you seriously have no desire to revert.

Q: How do I know if my new view is right?

A: That depends on what you mean. The more you work on developing yourself, the more you will realize that what is right for you may not be right for someone else and vice-versa. I would suggest simply trying it out and seeing what rings true for you. Try to avoid looking for a silver-bullet-one-and-only-true-answer, because if those do exist, they’re very, very hard to come by. Try instead to go for collecting pieces of truth, and keep adding to your collection.

Q: Ok, so should I start telling everyone about this? This new insight is huge!

A: You can do that, of course. I would caution how you do it, though. Try to avoid “pushing” it on your friends and acquaintances, as that will alienate them. I would advise openly sharing your new insight with anyone who is interested, but not being forceful.

Q: But what is the point of that. I have The Truth!

A: Well, a piece of it at any rate. And congratulations are in order, I might add! However, an important thought to keep in mind is that this is your truth. What is true for you might not be for someone else. By all means, express yourself and share. But trying to make someone be something will only cause strife. Instead, I would suggest creating an “open forum” environment for such conversations, and let each person express their own truth. What may surprise you is that this may very well spark new directions for your thought as well as theirs. Remember that although you may have a piece of the Truth, so do they.

Q: That’s fair enough. Where do I go from here, though?

A: Well, you just attained a new level. To go back to the operating system analogy, just use it and enjoy the nice clean look and new features and functions. Take the time to get used to it, then use it to further your goals. Just remember that there will be updates and patches to this new OS of yours, and that eventually, there will be a new version.

Q: Yeah….about that. How long will it be before I go through this again?

A: Well, that depends on how vigorously you pursue your development. If you are working to enhance your inner world, then you can expect to have major revisions fairly often. If not, then less often. The good news is that when you consciously recognize the process, it becomes easier to handle. Especially after you have watched it happen a couple of times.

That’s it for Q&A for now. Next time I’ll be talking about archetypes, and how you can use them for reference points in this process. Also, I’ll be implementing a bulletin board for comments and such. Now that I have a method for preventing comment spam, I’ll be turning on the post comments as well.
